Couture creations designed to keep Barbie in high style

There's a reason for Barbie's longevity. Mattel knows how to keep the world's most famous doll fresh and relevant, and lately that's been by having famous fashion designers outfit her in custom looks that appeal to young fashionistas-in-training and older women who continue to collect.
Following Carolina Herrera, Badgley Mischka, Dooney & amp; Bourke and Byron Lars, Diane von Furstenberg has whipped up her own couture creation for the Barbie Gold Label. She outfitted the tall, curvy babe in a chic pink-and-white wrap dress, chandelier earrings and a bracelet. There's also a big white purse and a miniature model of the DVF logo suitcase with wheels.
The doll is 99.95 at select von Furstenberg boutiques, Bloomingdales in Manhattan and San Francisco, FAO Schwarz and BarbieCollector.com.
Not to miss a merchandising opportunity, von Furstenberg also has made the silk dress available in limited-edition, life-size versions for 298, available only at select von Furstenberg boutiques and the same two Bloomingdales stores.
