YOUNGSTOWN -- When Ursuline High's Nick McCarthy scored seven 3-point goals Friday night, he only tied the school record set by Marc Palermo in 2002.
Palermo made his seven treys in a district tournament against Campbell Memorial when he finished with 31 points. Palermo made six 3-pointers two other times and has the Irish career assist mark, 348.
Palermo earned all-Ohio honors and is a senior guard at Bethany College.
In Saturday's edition, it was incorrectly stated McCarthy set the Ursuline record.

Avalanche pick new Cleveland AHL team
DENVER -- The Colorado Avalanche said Sunday they have signed a long-term affiliation agreement with Cleveland's new American Hockey League team, making it the Avalanche's primary affiliate.
The new Cleveland franchise, which will begin play in the 2007-2008 season, is owned by a group led by Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert.
The franchise had been operated as the Utah Grizzlies before Gilbert's group bought the rights to it.
The Grizzlies moved to Utah from Denver in 1995 after COMSAT Video Enterprises bought the Quebec Nordiques and moved them to Colorado, where they became the Avalanche, now owned by Kroenke Sports Enterprises.
The Grizzlies won the International Hockey League championship that year.
Avalanche general manager Francois Giguere said the club has always wanted to have an independent farm team where it could develop its prospects.
"We'll have most of our prospects on the same team, which should help their development as well as their understanding of our culture and philosophy," he said.
The Avalanche have an affiliation agreement with the Albany, N.Y. AHL team this season. Previously it has had agreements with AHL teams in Hershey, Penn. and Lowell, Mass.

76ers in no rushto deal Iverson
PHILADELPHIA -- Allen Iverson might stick around Philadelphia a while longer.
Philadelphia 76ers team president Billy King told The Associated Press Sunday night he would not rush to deal Iverson, the disgruntled former MVP who has drawn trade interest from all but two teams.
"We never put a timetable on this," King said. "The only timetable I'll put on this is to make the best decision for this franchise for the long haul. We've got to be very methodical as we go through this and do our due diligence. This is not something we're going to rush into."
Iverson was sent home by the Sixers and has been inactive for six straight games after he asked to be traded nearly two weeks ago. King did not say when he expected to complete a trade for Iverson, a transaction expected to be complicated because of the nearly 60 million left on his contract.
King said he's received calls from all but two other teams in the league, and they're each interested in either acquiring Iverson or acting as a facilitator for a deal.
King said it could take three or four teams to make a trade for Iverson and his 31.2 points per game.
"We've had some great dialogue," King said. "I think the teams out there that we're talking with know exactly what it will take to get it done. We'll keep talking. This is a process where you make a lot of conversation."

Colombia to bid for 2014 FIFA World Cup
BOGOTA, Colombia -- Colombia will formally join the race to host the 2014 FIFA World Cup today following a recent submission from Brazil.
Colombia will present a letter of intent to FIFA and also will confirm its desire to host the tournament at a meeting Wednesday of the South American confederation (CONMEBOL), Luis Bedoya, president of the Colombian soccer federation, said Sunday.
In July, President Alvaro Uribe said he wanted the country to host the quadrennial championship.
Colombia was chosen as the host for the 1986 World Cup, but withdrew due to financial problems in 1982.
Mexico was selected to replace it six months later.
As part of FIFA's continental rotation policy, the 2014 championship is set for South America. The 2010 Cup is scheduled for South Africa.
FIFA's executive committee is to announce the host of the 2014 World Cup in November.
