Volunteers put paper, bowson gifts for senior citizens
Volunteers gathered at the Best Western Hotel on North Canfield Niles Road in Youngstown, above, help to gift-wrap thousands of items. Home Instead Senior Care put together the "Be a Santa to a Senior" program. At left, Pam Traino, Home Instead's director, left, and Carol Haus, its owner, were on hand to help put together the packages. Haus said the program is designed to help stimulate human contact and social interaction for seniors who are unlikely to have guests during the holidays. They were busy Thursday wrapping the gifts that will be delivered next week in the tri-county area. More than 600 individuals will receive more than 2,000 gifts that were collected from giving trees and donations. On wrapping detail, below, were volunteers Jennifer Hernan of Ellsworth, left, Jason Maozia of Struthers and Erin Zappia of Struthers.
