Columbiana man found dead; shot in head

EAST PALESTINE — Authorities are investigating the apparent shooting death of a man in Unity Township.

Charles McKinnon, 32, of Dyke Road in the township was found dead about 8 a.m. today. His body was found off Carbon Hill Road, also in the township. He was found outside and apparently had been shot in the head. A pistol was found nearby, authorities said.

A neighbor notified the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office of the shooting. The sheriff’s office notified the man’s family. Officials declined to reveal more information about the ongoing investigation.
