Jennifer Basich of Leetonia, a junior exercise science major, won the Undergraduate Student Investigator Award at the 29th Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference of the American College of Sports Medicine for her research, "Perceptions of Body Weight and Weight Gain in American and Spanish College Students." She collected half her data while spending a semester abroad at La Unversidad de Alcala de Henares in Spain and the other half at SRU.

Traci Sanders of Poland was a member of the 2006 Homecoming Court, representing the Kent Interhall Council. The daughter of John and Dianne Sanders of Boardman is a senior integrated science education major. She is a graduate of Boardman High School. She is president of the Kent Interhall Council and a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, the Student Athletic Advisory Board, the National Residence Hall Honorary and Alpha Lambda Delta and was named Student Leader of the year for 2005-06. She has served as an orientation instructor and is a Student Ambassador for Kent as well as a tutor in the Academic Success Center.

Courtney Hull, daughter of Gail and Mike Hull of Boardman, has been awarded the Ritz Memorial Scholarship for the 2006-07 academic year. Hull, a freshman pre-veterinary medicine major at the University, is a 2006 graduate of Boardman High School. The Ritz Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to undergraduates majoring in courses oriented toward careers of service to others. Jason Harsanye, son of Karen and Glenn Harsanye of Austintown, has been awarded the Dr. Jean C. Nye Spanish Scholarship for the 2006-07 academic year. Harsanye, a senior pharmacy/Spanish major, is a 2001 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and is president of the Spanish Club.
WESTMINSTER COLLEGE, New Wilmington, Pa.
Brett Turk, son of Debra Turk and the late Robert Turk of New Castle, was one member of a four-member Westminster Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team that took second place in a recent SIFE competition held at Syracuse University. Turk is a junior psychology-human resources major and a graduate of Union Area High School. Other team members were Alyssa Swatko of Bethel Park, Pa.; Kerri Campbell of Coraopolis, Pa., and Laura Pienkowski of Washington, Pa.
