GETTING IT RIGHT
Although Judge James C. Evans of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court suspended the driving privileges of Dr. Robert M. Maruschak, a Poland dentist, for two years and placed him under 90 days of electronically monitored house arrest, he permitted the dentist to leave home for work throughout the 90 days. Judge Evans also permitted Dr. Maruschak to drive himself to work after the first 30 days of house arrest if he has auto liability insurance. The judge set these conditions Friday as part of the sentence he imposed on the dentist, who pleaded guilty to drug trafficking and illegal processing of drug documents.
A story in the Aug. 24 edition of The Vindicator said the Ohio Ethics Commission is investigating the Canfield city manager's hiring of a relative. The commission has no active investigation right now, said David Freel, the panel's executive director. Freel said the commission has had an inquiry about ethics and is reviewing information sent to it.
