Footless cropped tights are updated

KNIGHT RIDDER NEWSPAPERS
The trend began last winter, and by the fall fashion shows in New York, leg after leg was covered in opaque knit tights reminiscent of the mini skirted era of the '60s.
But they looked heavy and monotonous for the warm months. Enter here footless cropped tights.
Marc Jacobs and Anna Sui made them part of their fall runway shows, and it was no time before they appeared on the streets of New York.
The tights are spin-offs of the trend to tight pants and jeans. And the '80s are providing considerable inspiration. So it's no surprise the hosiery company Hue and others jumped on the notion. And the tights were this summer's cheap wardrobe update.
Wear them with dresses, the new long, hip-skimming tunics and skirts. In the '80s, it was shocking at first to see tights worn only with jackets. We suggest that look only if you're at the gym or haven't a bulge in sight.
