Canfield cruises past Potters, 9-0
Howland and Lordstown also recorded shutout victories.
EAST LIVERPOOL -- Senior John Congelio and junior Chad Richards scored their first varsity goals as the Canfield High boys soccer team posted a 9-0 victory over East Liverpool Tuesday.
Nick Benedetto, Kyle Reese, David Kanotz, Mark Hahn, Kurt Ulbricht, Kevin Ricks and Jason Murdock also scored a goal apiece.
Tim Hutchinson and Reese each had two assists, while Buck and Murdock had one apiece.
Sam Kinsey had 15 saves for the Potters.
Howland 10, Campbell 0
CAMPBELL -- Ian Jones scored four goals for the Tigers. Sumit Kovoor and Eric Albani added two apiece, while Jon ZuJeddeloh and Tyler Rubesic each had one.
Sean Gerin had four assists for Howland, Jones two, Chris Cole and Kovoor each one.
Campbell goalie Alex Lopez had 19 saves.
Newton Falls 5, Bristol 3
NEWTON FALLS - Eric Terwilliger, Mike Layshock scored two goals apiece for the Tigers (1-1-1). Richie Peterson scored the other goal.
Josh Banyas and Terwilliger each had two assists and Andrew Watson had one.
Eric Maraczi scored the three goals for Bristol. Joe Licht and Louis Lamosek each had an assist.
Joe Zaler had 13 saves for Bristol, while Kurt Ellis had five for the Tigers.
Lordstown 7, Mathews 0
VIENNA -- Ryan Pal and Nate Rech scored three goals apiece to pace the Red Devils (1-0). Julian German added one.
Mathews (0-2) goalkeeper Brett Ford had 36 saves, giving him 81 so far this season.

LIBERTY -- Carrie Ritzler scored four goals to spark Springfield to an 8-1 win over Liberty.
Chelsea Paulin, Amber Uscianowski, Melissa Huffman and Allison Berry each added one goal for the Tigers (2-0). Ritzler, Breanne Mincher and Katie Walker each had an assist. Courtney Paulin had three saves.
Melissa Dykes scored the goal for the Leopards (0-4).
