Hubbard city-township district accepts request to incorporate

Tuesday, August 29, 2006 The city must approve a request for services. HUBBARD — The Joint Economical Development District between the city and Hubbard Township has a new member. Members of the JEDD board accepted a request from Matt Greenawalt, owner of Homestead RV Sales & Campground, to incorporate property at 2172 N. Main Street in the township into the JEDD. The acceptance into the JEDD is contingent upon city officials' agreeing to offer water and sewer services to Greenawalt. Greenawalt plans to conduct trailer sales from the location doing business as Trilogy. A spokesperson for the company said the North Main Street location is ideal because it is close to Interstate 80 and Flying J Truck Stop, which caters to recreational vehicle users. Greenawalt said he will immediately begin remodeling an existing structure on the property and is hoping to be open for business in the spring. The business will start with four employees and expand as needed, Greenawalt said. Board member Michael Villano said the board will need a general description of the business from Greenawalt to make a resolution that can be submitted to city council. The resolution and a request for services will need to be approved by council before the businesses can be officially included in the JEDD. Under the JEDD agreement, employees at the new business will pay income taxes to the city and receive city water and sewage, but the property, and associated property taxes, will remain with the township. The township will provide emergency services. There are currently eight businesses included in the JEDD.
