By JIM FLICK VINDICATOR CORRESPONDENT WARREN — Led by the quick feet of running back Eric McBride and the strong arm of quarterback J.J. Townsend, Warren JFK blitzed Newton Falls 42-0 Saturday night. McBride gained 136 yards on 17 carries and scored two touchdowns. Townsend completed six of seven passes to gain 179 yards and gained another 27 yards on five carries. Ironically, the Eagles fumbled on the first offensive play of the game. JFK recovered its own fumble, but lost 21 yards on the play. The setback was only temporary. On the second play from scrimmage, Townsend lofted a 76-yard touchdown pass to flanker Desmar Jackson. McBride ended a second first-quarter drive with a 10-yard touchdown run, and Townsend capped the first-quarter scoring with a five-yard jaunt for a touchdown. 28-0 lead Townsend boosted the score to 28-0 with an 8-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. In the first half, JFK gained 257 yards total offense to only 33 yards for Newton Fall. McBride scored his second touchdown of the night in the third quarter on a six-yard run and his replacement, Jared Province, capped the scoring with a four-yard dash into the end zone in the fourth quarter. Newton Falls almost ended the shutout in the third quarter, but JFK's Cory Fambro intercepted a pass by Tigers quarterback Ryan Connell in the end zone.
