Two Girard men indicted in theft of steel rollers

The steel rollers were worth $500,000 to $1 million.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Two Girard men have been indicted by a Mahoning County grand jury on charges of stealing 80 steel rollers weighing 2 to 4 tons each and selling them for scrap.
Indicted Thursday on charges of theft and receiving stolen property were Brian Kaczmark, 30, of Broadway, and James E. Lee, 35, of Trumbull Avenue.
The indictment says the rolls, collectively worth between $500,000 and $1 million, were stolen from M-7 Technologies on Ohio Works Drive between Jan. 26 and March 27. All the rollers were recovered from a local scrap business.
Indicted on charges of vehicular assault and failure to stop after an accident was Nelson L. Kennedy, 50, of Fountain Square Drive, Austintown.
Kennedy was driving east on Four Mile Run Road on July 16, ran a stop sign at Meridian Road and struck a car driven by Sam Moffie, 46, of Lockwood Blvd., Boardman, police said.
Moffie, whose injuries included a broken back, was northbound on Meridian and slowing down to turn onto Four Mile Run when the accident occurred.
Also indicted was Lantonio Owens, 32, of Bennington Avenue, who is charged with felonious assault on a police officer and failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer.
The indictment alleges that on July 3, Owens used a motor vehicle to deliberately cause or attempt to cause physical harm to Robert Giovanni, a city police officer, ignored a police order to stop and fled from police in a motor vehicle.
