Police will file murder charge
LISBON -- Authorities say they expect they will file a murder charge against an East Liverpool man accused of stabbing a woman to death.
The man was being held Thursday at the Columbiana County Jail on an unrelated outstanding misdemeanor charge of criminal trespass.
Charles Burgess, Liverpool Township police chief, and county Prosecutor Robert Herron said Emily Foreman, 21, died at East Liverpool City Hospital late Wednesday afternoon.
The authorities said they were interviewing people to confirm what they believed was the motive for the killing. They declined to elaborate.
Foreman had been staying at 916 Anderson Blvd., a house owned by her mother. The house is just outside the East Liverpool city limits. Police received a call about 4 p.m. Wednesday that a woman had been injured.
Police arrived and found the suspect. Authorities said they were checking a tape of the call to determine if the call was made by the suspect. A knife was recovered at the house.
A small amount of suspected drugs was found in the home.
Police said the suspect and Foreman were acquaintances and that the suspect was not the father of Foreman's 3-year-old daughter. The girl was at a relative's home at the time of the killing.
The county coroner's office said an initial ruling on the cause of death may be issued next week.
