Fresh crop of short pants pop up everywhere

MCCLATCHY NEWSPAPERS
They're not Bermuda shorts. They are not capris.
They are pants cropped just enough to skim the knee tops with an added cuff -- like trousers. They look new and go with a cropped tailored jacket, a fancy print tunic or a T-shirt.
So what do you call them? Knee pants, as if they were the pants young English prep school boys wear, or city shorts, as they were dubbed on their first go-round in the 1970s. They appeal to women who can find an extensive variety ranging from khakis for less than $20 to Chanel models for $1,100.
Wear them with everything from cashmere sweaters to high heels or sneakers.
And stylish women have few qualms about where they go in them. The New York Times reported they've become regular fare for the office.
They work for cocktail parties with high heels and fancy tops. And with casual accessories, they're cool for running errands.
