Mahoning CSEA offering 'Deal'

Tuesday, August 22, 2006 YOUNGSTOWN — People whose driver's licenses have been suspended because they owe child support have a grace period this week when they can get their license back by paying one month's support plus $1, together with a $25 reinstatement fee. The grace period, which ends Friday, was announced Monday by the Mahoning County Child Support Enforcement Agency. Those wishing to take advantage of this offer, known as "Deals for Your Wheels," should visit CSEA offices at 709 N. Garland Ave. between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. between now and Friday to speak to a license suspension case manager. Those who pay one month's child support plus $1 on the arrearage will receive a reinstatement form from CSEA. They can then present that form to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicle's Regional Reinstatement Center, 242 Federal Plaza West, and pay the $25 fee to have their license reinstated. Normally, someone whose driver's license is suspended for nonpayment of child support must pay three months' worth of child support or have a job to enable child support to be withheld from wages to get his driver's license back. In observance of August as Child Support Awareness Month, child support enforcement agencies around Ohio are conducting activities such as this under the theme "Kids count. Make sure they can count on you."
