Use of resource officer will continue

Sunday, August 20, 2006 NEW MIDDLETOWN — Springfield School District intends to continue enlisting the services of a school resource officer during the 2006-07 school year. The school board last week agreed to enter into a contract with New Middletown that calls for the village to provide the resource officer Sept. 1 through June 30. The officer is to be paid $210 a day, which reflects a $5-a-day increase in last year's fee. The officer is to be available to the district every day that school is in session. He is to be available to the village on an emergency basis while assigned to the school district. In other news, the school board authorized the superintendent to enter into an agreement with the Mahoning County General Health District to provide nursing services to the school district Sept. 1 through Aug. 31. The school district is to reimburse the county health board on a quarterly basis. That amount is not to exceed $42,916 during the term of the agreement.
