Sunday, August 20, 2006 SCOUTS Received Eagle award David Cline, a son of Beth and Leo Cline of Shields Road, Canfield, has received his Eagle Scout Award, Boy Scouting's highest honor, at a court of honor ceremony last week at Canfield United Methodist Church. He was a member of Cub Scout Pack 25 from 1994-99 and received its highest rank, Arrow of Light. He joined Boy Scout Troop 25 in March of 1999. Kevin Prus Sr. is his scoutmaster. Cline has had troop positions of assistant scoutmaster, assistant patrol leader, patrol leader, assistant quartermaster, quartermaster, assistant senior patrol leader and senior patrol leader. He has earned 21 merit badges and received the Fifth-Year Pipestone, Gettysburg Trail Medal awards and Polar Bear and Sourdough patches. He also received the Bob Roberts Memorial Back Patch Award and Jimmy Jones Outstanding Scout Award. He has participated in special activities such as Wapashuwi Lodge, Order of the Arrow; Gettysburg Historic Hike and campout; and Tinnerman Canoe Base in Canada. His Eagle Scout service project was to plan, design, coordinate and supervise the construction of book shelving for a fifth-grade class at Youngstown Community School. Cline is a 2006 graduate of Canfield High School and will be attending Ohio University. He was a member of the high school's Film and German clubs and participated in the Environthon at Canfield, where he received an honors diploma. He also has been a member of Competitive Edge 4-H Club in Springfield. DOCTORS Lake Erie graduate Tina Marie Giuliani of Canfield has received her doctor of pharmacy degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. She graduated from Canfield High School in 2000 and did her pre-pharmacy coursework at Youngstown State University until 2003. She is doing a graduate internship with Walgreens. Dr. Giuliani is the daughter of Michael and Dianne Giuliani of Canfield. PH.D English literature Allison A. Hutira, daughter of Donald C. and Christine Hutira of Struthers, recently graduated from Kent State University with a Ph.D. in English literature. After graduating from Cardinal Mooney High School in 1985, she earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from Youngstown State University. She also was a member of the adjunct faculty in YSU's English Department before earning her doctorate. She has accepted a position at Slippery Rock University, Slippery Rock, Pa., and will begin teaching in the fall. XMilestones is a regular Sunday feature in The Vindicator.
