National Hibernians recognize Anna Bobby at convention



Sunday, August 20, 2006 YOUNGSTOWN — Anna Bobby, a daughter of Dave and Kate Finnerty Bobby of Poland, was singled out for recognition during the Ancient Order of Hibernian and Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians National Convention in July in Boston, where she was chosen as National Junior Hibernian of 2006. Bobby, whose Irish family has its roots in Roscommon, Ireland, was selected from a group of nominees submitted by Junior Divisions throughout the country, on the basis of her exemplary leadership and talent. A member of the LAOH Golden Rose Queen of Ireland Division 6, Mahoning County Juniors, Bobby is an active member and officer of the Juniors and a member of St. Matthias Church. She is in the top 10 percent of her class at Poland Seminary High School, where she maintains a 4.0 grade average. Bobby was also recognized by the LAOH on Aug. 13 during the Gathering of the Irish Clans in Youngstown, along with Caitlin Murphy of Warren, who received an honorable mention in the LAOH National History Contest for her essay on "The Irish Language."
