2 districts now ready to start year



Sunday, August 20, 2006 Two Lawrence County, Pa., school districts have finalized their preparations for the start of a new school year. The Neshannock Area School District board approved the hiring of a junior high school principal. School directors hired Luca Passarelli by a 7-to-1 vote, with board member Joe Gierlach abstaining. Passarelli's salary will be $69,500. He is currently serving as an assistant high school principal in the New Brighton School District. Passarelli received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Westminster College. The board also approved hiring these teachers: Blaise Paglia, high school social studies; Leann Wilson, family and consumer education; Ryan Brown, technology education; Erin Kock, science; Lisa Moody, kindergarten; and Jennifer Flannery, fifth grade. Mohawk The Mohawk Area School Board approved a 3.75 percent raise for district superintendent Dr. Timothy McNamee. His salary will increase to $105,690 for the 2006-07 year. The school directors also approved these teachers and staff for the upcoming school year: Marie Meyers, elementary reading specialist; Candice McCormick and Mary Segura, long-term elementary substitutes; Ashley Richards, elementary instrumental short-term substitute; and Joyce Stokes and Shadda Miller, substitute bus drivers.
