XPITTSBURGH -- Laura R. Gerson, a daughter of Carole and Dr. Leonard Rubenstein, and Phillip N. Silverman, a son of Elyse and Harry Silverman of Liberty Township, were united in marriage July 2 at Beth El Congregation of the South Hills, where a reception was held afterward.
Officiating at the 6:30 p.m. ceremony were Rabbis Alex Greenbaum and Joseph Schonberger.
The couple honeymooned in the Bahamas.
Beading embellished the neckline, waist and hemline of the bride's strapless gown fashioned of white satin and organza.
Black gowns were worn by the honor attendants, the bride's sister, Synthia D'Iorio, and the groom's sister, Devra Silverman. Similarly attired were the bridesmaids, Melanie Wolkoff, cousin of the groom; Nina Sonbolian; and Hillary Klein. Flower girl was the groom's cousin, Dana Katz.
Jonathan Silverman performed the duties of best man for his brother, and groomsmen were Mathew Holz, Tavi Yehudai, Dr. Scott Soleimanpour and the bride's brother-in-law, Joseph D'Iorio. Ring bearers were the groom's cousins, Jacob Silverman and Joel Olgin.
The bride and groom graduated from Ohio State University in Columbus with bachelor's degrees, hers in sociology and his in English. Mr. Silverman is employed by Water Street Window and Door in Lowellville.
