Union Township schedules spring cleanup in precincts
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Union Township supervisors announced the pickup schedule for the annual spring cleanup. This week, Precinct 1 is having a pickup. Here are the week starting dates and the precinct which will have trash collection -- Monday, Precinct 2; May 8, Precinct 4; and May 15, Precinct 3. Items should be at curbside by the Sunday before trash pickup.
Acceptable items include general trash, furniture less than 5 feet long, bagged yard waste weighing up to 40 pounds, small household appliances, bundled carpeting less than 3 feet long and weighing under 40 pounds, and contained food waste.
Unacceptable items are auto tires, rims or parts, plaster, cabinets, wood ceiling tile, doors, windows, dirt, bricks, stones, concrete, refrigerators, air conditioning units, any appliances containing Freon, trash cans and bags exceeding 40 pounds, carpeting not cut and bundled as listed under acceptable items, and any hazardous material including paint, oils, chemicals, cleaning agents and antifreeze.
The township will not pick up any illegal items. Garbage haulers will not make return trips, and the township is not responsible for items dropped in yards.
