Tigers remain perfect in ICL



Ashtabula Edgewood edged Howland 1-0.
McDONALD -- Christy Warren's three hits included two doubles as the Springfield High softball team remained unbeaten in Inter-County League play with a 5-1 win over McDonald.
Warren drove in two runs as the Tigers (12-6, 10-0) scored four times in the seventh inning. Chelsea Quimby also had three hits and scored once while Courtney Sheely had two hits.
For McDonald ( 9-8, 4-7), Courtney Vitullo and Tomisa Sangregorio doubled.
Salem 3-5, West Branch 1-11
SALEM -- In the Quakers' win, winning pitcher Brittany Gregory threw a four-hitter and tripled. Bridget Szabot doubled.
Bri Benedict drove in a run for the Warriors (7-14).
In the Warriors' win, Benedict's four hits included a double. Allison Edie, Becky Rinyo and Sammy Snyder each had two hits, with Edie driving in three runs.
For the Quakers (7-9), Szabot and Jessie Dillon had two hits each.
Poland 13-17, East Liverpool 0-1
POLAND -- Liz Maher's three hits included a homer and double and drove in five runs for Poland (13-3, 6-1 Metro Athletic Conference) in the first game.
Kari Thompson also drove in five runs with a home run and triple.
Courtney Harrison's second-inning single broke up Maher's no-hitter.
In the second game, Jenna Medina struck out 10 batters and tossed a two-hitter. Ashley Conger's three hits drove in two runs. Allie Patton's two hits include a triple and she drove in four runs. Also with two hits were Thompson, Amanda Gittings and Emma Brenoel.
Struthers 11, Lowellville 2
LOWELLVILLE -- Sara Salinas had three hits and two RBIs to lead Struthers, while Dom Martino, Elyse Kunzer, Pam Sajnovsky and Ellen Becker each had two hits. Becker also had two RBIs.
Carla Blinsky had two hits, including a triple, and Jacque Schrader also had two hits.
Edgewood 1, Howland 0
ASHTABULA -- Two first-inning errors led to the game's only run, which was scored by Trisha Dreslinski. Carly Sabat, Rachel Bixler and Casey Haering had Howland's (17-3) hits. Edgewood is 16-2.
Newton Falls 4-0, Southeast 0-4
NEWTON FALLS -- Marisa Matas and Ashley Walker each had two hits for the Tigers in the first game.
In the second game, Danielle Kaley, Amanda Penzera, Alyss Biltz and Ali Austin each had two hits for the Pirates (7-10).
