Receiving Eagle award
jDevin J. Eicher, 18, son of Dan and Peggy Eicher, Canfield, will receive his Eagle Scout award, Boy Scouting's highest honor, at a court of honor Wednesday at Canfield United Methodist Church.
Devin is a member of Troop 25, which is chartered to the church. He is assistant scoutmaster, and has held positions of assistant patrol leader, patrol leader, senior patrol leader and historian.
Devin received the Arrow of Light in 1995, Cub Scouting's highest award. He has acquired 22 merit badges. As his Eagle Scout service project, he planned, designed, coordinated and supervised the landscaping of the bike connector route between Canfield High School and Mill Creek MetroParks Bikeway.
He's a junior at Canfield High School, and is a member of its Key Club, drama club, bowling team and symphonic and marching bands. Devin is a member of St. Michael Church, Canfield, its Youth Ministry, Faith Sharing Group, brass ensemble, and serves as a greeter and Celebrate Team leader. Devin is a member of Stambaugh Honors Band.
Gold Award recipient
Molly McFadden is a recent recipient of the Gold Award, Girl Scouting's highest honor. She received the award at a Girl Scout Silver and Gold Banquet at Ciminero's Banquet Centre, Niles.
A senior at Cardinal Mooney High School, she is the daughter of Flo McFadden of Boardman and Ed McFadden of Howland.
Molly is a member of Troop 426, which is led by Joan Schell, and has been a member for eight years.
For her Girl Scout Gold Award service project, Molly filmed and edited footage of outdoor programs at Girl Scout's Sugarbush Camp to encourage participation in outdoor programs and to allay fears about staying in camp.
Her other Scouting awards and honors include Gold and Silver Leadership Awards. She is a member of Mooney's bowling team and danceline, and is a Celebrate Team member and youth group music minister at St. Charles Church, Boardman.

Counseling psychology
jLaura B. Grove McCrea, daughter of Carol and Bob Grove of Boardman, has completed her doctoral degree in counseling psychology at the University of Akron.
Grove McCrea received her bachelor's degree from Westminster College, New Wilmington, Pa., and earned her master's degree from the University of Akron, where she also was named outstanding doctoral-level teaching assistant.
Published in The Counseling Psychologist, Grove McCrea lives in Boardman with her husband, Shawn, and her daughter Elizabeth. She teaches part time at Youngstown State University.
