Musical extravaganza
YOUNGSTOWN -- The gospel choirs of Elizabeth Missionary Baptist and Triedstone Baptist churches will present a musical program at 5:30 p.m. May 6 at Elizabeth Missionary Baptist, 1210 Himrod Ave. "Back in the Day in 2006 with a Little Mix Musical Extravaganza" will feature pianist Edna Stevens Hamlette, organist Wilbert Ervin and a 150-voice choir.
FLOW meeting
NEW WATERFORD -- Ricky Riggs of Carrollton will be the guest speaker when Friday Night FLOW, Fresh Levels of Worship, meets at 7 p.m. Friday at Abundant Life Fellowship, 46469 state Route 46.
Rosary cenacle
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Shrine of Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted, 517 S. Belle Vista Ave., and the Queen of the Holy Rosary Prayer Group will hold a rosary cenacle at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Refreshments will follow in the social hall.
Prayer breakfast
CAMPBELL -- The Deaconess Board of Faith Temple Baptist Church, 125 Roosevelt Drive, will have a prayer breakfast at 10 a.m. May 6. Guest speaker will be Edna Pincham. The cost is $6.
Christian banquet
HUBBARD -- Patrick Benson of Zimbabwe, Africa, will be guest speaker at a banquet Friday by Jesus is the Way Ministries, 319 Goldie Road, Youngstown. Benson is the founder of Jesus World Evangelism Ministries Inc. and Seed of Faith in Africa. The event will start at 6:30 p.m. at Brentford House, 737 Myron St. Reservations must be made by Wednesday by calling (330) 759-2950.
Hurricane relief work
BOARDMAN -- Westminster Presbyterian Church is sending a team of 18 people, seven women and 11 men, to do hurricane relief work in Gautier, Miss. The group, which also includes two members of First Presbyterian Church in Niles, left Friday and will return May 6. The team is working through the Presbyterian Disaster Relief Agency of the Presbyterian Church of the USA. The team will have room and board at Grace Presbyterian Church in Mobile, Ala., and work out of Gautier Presbyterian Church. The Rev. David Joachim of Westminster is team leader.
Ring church bells
YOUNGSTOWN -- Monsignor Robert J. Siffrin, administrator of the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown, is asking all parishes to toll their church bells at noon Monday to express solidarity with all workers and especially with newcomers, migrants and immigrants. May 1 is the memorial of St. Joseph the Worker. Monsignor Siffrin will celebrate a Mass at 12:10 p.m. that day in St. Columba Cathedral, 159 W. Rayen Ave.
First sermon planned
YOUNGSTOWN -- Jonai Phifer will preach her first sermon at 10 a.m. Sunday at Everlife Worship Center, 815 Wilson Ave., where the Rev. Denis M. Robinson is senior pastor. Phifer, a caseworker at Mahoning County Children Services Board, has traveled to do mission work in Philadelphia, along with Uganda and Kenya, Africa.
Night to Honor Mary
YOUNGSTOWN -- The annual Night to Honor Mary will be at 7 p.m. Friday at St. Columba Cathedral, 159 W. Rayen Ave., with Monsignor Robert J. Siffin, administrator of the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown, presiding at the devotional service. The Rev. John-Michael Lavelle, pastor of Immaculate Conception Church in Ravenna, will deliver the homily.
Polka Mass planned
YOUNGSTOWN -- A car and cycle blessing will follow a polka Mass at 4 p.m. May 6 at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 421 Covington Ave. Slovenian polkas will be played by the Ray and Al Combo. Refreshments will be served.
Spring revival set
YOUNGSTOWN -- Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1232 Hill St., will have a spring revival with services at 6:30 p.m. next week. Scheduled are: Monday, the Rev. Eleanor Felder of Holy Bible Church of God; Tuesday, the Rev. Albert Ross of New Grace Baptist Church; Wednesday, the Rev. Clarence Glenn of First Calvary Baptist Church; Thursday, Minister Ellis Payne of Holy Bible Church of God; and Friday, Minister Kenneth Harvey of Piney Grove Baptist Church in Atlanta.

YOUNGSTOWN -- A service of healing is planned at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. John Episcopal, 323 Wick Ave.
