Anderson lifts Struthers to Rocket Invite crown



LOWELLVILLE -- Struthers senior Eric Anderson won both hurdling events and the long jump to lead the Wildcats to the boys team title at Saturday's 12-team Rocket Invitational at Lowellville High School.
Struthers' Justin Penson won the 100 meters, Larry Wylie won the 200 and the Wildcats won the 4x100 and 4x200 relays.
McDonald's Taylor Sowers won the 1600 and 3200 as the Blue Devils finished second.
Columbiana's Tyler Best won the shot put and discus.
On the girls side, Lowellville junior Rachel Mariotti won both hurdling events, the 200 and was a member of the winning 4x400 relay to lead the Rockets to the team title.
McDonald's Ashleigh Tondo won the 800, Courtney Dombroski won the 1600 and Cassie Garland won the 3200 as the Blue Devils finished second.
Warrior Invitational
BELOIT -- Nicole Culler won the 1600 and 3200 and was a member of the second place 4x800 relay to lead West Branch to the girls team title at the Warrior Invitational at West Branch High School.
Hubbard's Katoria Carter won the 100 and 200 and was a member of the winning 4x100 and 4x200 relays as the Eagles finished second.
The Warriors' Scott Thomas won the 100 and 200 and was a member of the winning 4x100 and 4x200 relays to lead West Branch to the boys title. Teammate Nathan Diehl won the 800 and 1600 and was a member of the winning 4x800 relay.
