2 in tow truck die after failing to stop for train

GENOA, Ohio (AP) -- A tow truck driver failed to stop for an approaching train and was killed, along with his passenger, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.
The Norfolk Southern freight train struck the passenger side of the tow truck about 12:40 p.m. Thursday. The accident happened in Allen Township, about 15 miles southeast of Toledo.
Passenger James Geiger Sr., 68, of Maumee, was pronounced dead at the scene and driver Robert Ankenbrandt, 68, of Maumee, died later at a hospital, the patrol said.
The train's conductor and engineer weren't hurt.
The impact separated the tow truck from the boat it was hauling and pushed the truck about 75 feet from the railroad crossing into a ditch. The boat wasn't damaged.
The crossing is marked with cross bucks, signs with white Xs on poles.
