Warren voters can renew their support of schools

Warren voters can renew their support of schools
EDITOR:
As a lifetime Trumbull County resident, I have always been an advocate of our area children and the Warren City School District and I would like to ask city residents to support the Warren City Schools Renewal Levy on May 2. This five-year, 4.25-mill renewal levy will help protect the educational future of our children and grandchildren.
I am a product of the Warren city schools, and as a community activist and senior citizen, I feel that it is our responsibility to afford our children every opportunity possible to succeed in their educational endeavors and their futures. Our children don't stand a chance if we don't continue to provide them with what they need to become successful learners. The district needs this renewal in order to maintain its programs and services. Voting for this renewal levy is simply the right thing to do.
I am very aware of the economic issues within the Mahoning Valley. Between Delphi and Forum Health, many residents are concerned about how they will make ends meet and continue to provide for their families. But, we must not lose sight of the role that our school district plays in our community. Schools play a key role in the social and economic health and security of our entire city. They help to increase property values, provide a well-educated workforce for area businesses and help to retain and attract quality businesses to the area.
As a senior citizen on a fixed income, I also understand the need to watch my dollars and cents, but I also realize that a small sacrifice I make today will make the difference in the lives of many children tomorrow. This levy would cost the average homeowner with the property value of $50,000 only $65 annually. Aren't our children worth it? Besides, if we don't help our children, who will?
I urge Warren city residents to come together in support of the Warren city schools renewal levy. Please vote FOR Warren city schools on May 2.

Good schools benefit all
EDITOR:
It has been said that," Education is the best way to move a community forward." The renewal school levy committee has the support of our mayor, all members of city council, township trustees, and the business community, which a majority are the proud product of the Hubbard school system.
We will all benefit with the passing of the renewal school levy. We are proud of our students' accomplishments in the classroom, on the athletic fields, and other extracurricular activities. This renewal will not increase your taxes, but will increase your children's and grandchildren's opportunities for a quality education.
Remember on May 2 to vote "yes" on the Hubbard renewal school levy.

We work, they steal
EDITOR:
It was not happy Easter at my house this year. So many of these young people think only of themselves, showing no respect for senior citizens. My purse was stolen right out of my car, which was locked while I was attending my parents grave at the Belmont Cemetery. They got everything: cell phone (which they used). credit cards, Medicare information, drivers license, check book and more.
Now I'm wondering when they will be coming to my house to see what else they can take from me. It is a terrible feeling. Most of us live on a limited income and have worked all our lives, only to have it taken away. I feared they were going to attack me, but all they were doing was getting my attention while the third one was breaking into my car.
So, women, be on the lookout if a two- toned S-10 truck is driving around in the cemetery with three young people in it. They are looking to rob you too.
