Bluebells herald advent of spring
Spring has sprung, and blue skies and bright sunshine proved to be the perfect combination for a romp through some bluebells in bloom near the Mauthe Bridge in Poland Woods. Above, Honey, left, and Pepper, run through the flora. They are the pets of Don Phillips of Poland. At left is a close-up of the bell-shaped flower, which stands upright when in bud but hangs downward, nodding in the breeze, when fully open. They may be violet-blue, white or even pink on rare occasions.
