YOUNGSTOWN -- A dinner-dance featuring Ron Chick's Friends, a 22-man big-band orchestra, and vocalist Bobby Remp will be May 7 at ITAM Post 3, 115 S. Meridian Road.
The music enjoyed during the heyday of Idora Park's ballroom will be played, featuring artists such as Count Basie and Stan Kenton. Some of the musicians in Chick's orchestra are alumni of these big-band greats.
The event will feature continuous music.
"During the band breaks, DJ Richie D will play music for ballroom dancing," said Chick. Five ballroom songs will be played during each of the three breaks.
Doors open at 6 p.m., with dinner served at 6:30 p.m. A cash bar will be provided. The menu includes spaghetti and meatballs, baked chicken, sausage with peppers and onions, roasted potatoes and green beans amandine.
Tickets are $33 for the dinner and concert, and $20 for the concert only. Seating is open, but reservations are required for dinner. Tickets will be available at the door for those who want to come only for the dancing, which begins at 7:30 p.m. Singles and couples are welcome.
Call (330) 788-0494 for reservations. All major credit cards are accepted.
A raffle will benefit the Tri-County Autism Society.
