Yo. Christian falls short, 12-10

ASHTABULA -- A six-run seventh inning wasn't enough for the Youngstown Christian High baseball team on Tuesday.
The Eagles fell short, losing 12-10 to Ashtabula Sts. John & amp; Paul in the East Suburban Conference game.
It was their second game against Ashtabula Sts. John & amp; Paul in two days. Sts. John & amp; Paul beat Youngstown Christian 10-1 on Monday.
Dan Balch had three singles of 12 hits for ASJP (7-3).
Senior Jared VanArsdale doubled and had three singles for two RBIs for Youngstown Christian (5-7, 0-5 ESC).
Nathan Setnick and Anthony LaGamba also doubled for the Eagles, who committed three errors and stranded five runners.
Softball
GIRARD -- Courtney Christy singled home Kara Egelsky with the winning run in Brookfield's 5-4 victory over the Girard High softball team on Monday.
Egelsky tripled then scored in the eighth inning to snap a 4-4 tie and give Brookfield the win in a Trumbull Athletic Conference game.
Girard had rallied for three runs in the seventh to tie the score.
Christy also had another single while Mary Palumbo pitched a seven-hitter with eight strikeouts and five walks for Brookfield (1-12 and 1-8 TAC).
Palumbo bested Kassi Simeon who pitched a six-hitter with six strikeouts and three walks.
For Girard (3-13, 1-7), Sarah Britt had two singles and one RBI and Kristin Helle had a double and single.
