Warren police catch suspect hiding in courthouse

WARREN -- A suspect in a domestic violence complaint sought refuge in an unusual place Monday afternoon while being sought by police: the Trumbull County Courthouse.
Police said they were called to a location on North Park Avenue at about 3 p.m. for a domestic violence call involving a 29-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man. Officers looked downtown for the man and discovered him in the first-floor courthouse restroom.
A county deputy sheriff working security at the courthouse said the man walked through the metal detectors at the front door and proceeded into the building without setting off any detection warnings.
Warren police officers entered the courthouse asking whether deputies had seen the suspect and were directed to the restroom. The man was apprehended in the lobby area after a struggle witnessed by several courthouse employees.
Andrew P. McMichael, of Maryland Street Northwest, was arraigned Tuesday morning in Warren Municipal Court on a felony domestic violence charge. He is in Trumbull County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bond.
Officers said the woman told them McMichael had grabbed her by the hair and pulled her around a house on Jefferson Street Southwest, put her in a headlock and choked her.
