Shooting suspect held

WARREN -- A suspect charged with felonious assault in an April 15 shooting remains in Trumbull County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bond.
Matthew L. Hunter, 37, of Fifth Street Southwest, was arrested Friday in Warren.
Hunter pleaded innocent when he made his initial appearance Monday before municipal Judge Terry Ivanchak by video from the jail.
Hunter will have a preliminary hearing at 10:15 a.m. Monday before Judge Ivanchak.
Hunter is charged with shooting David L. Owens, 31, of Highland Avenue Southwest. Police found Owens at about 5:15 a.m. in the dead end of Front Street after a guard at the nearby Warren Recycling plant heard six gunshots.
Owens had been shot in the face and chest and was having trouble breathing, police said. He remains in stable condition in St. Elizabeth Health Center.
