School board decides to refinance loan

McDONALD -- The village school board is seeking to refinance a $1,599,00 loan.
The money was borrowed through the sale of bonds, approved by voters in November 1999 to raise $2,004,000.
District Treasurer Thomas Radabaugh said the district could potentially save $80,000 to $100,000 by refinancing the bonds.
The money borrowed was the district's share of the $17 million Ohio School Facilities Commission Assistance Program, which paid to build a new Roosevelt Elementary School and renovate the high school.
In other business at its recent meeting, the board accepted a donation of $3,100 from Les Styers, husband of the late Becky Styers, who worked in the treasurer's office for several years.
Her family had originally donated $5,000 to the Becky Styers Scholarship Fund and five $1,000 scholarships were presented. School officials said that the Styers family is hoping to keep Mrs. Styers' memory alive by making donations for scholarships.
The board also thanked Ann Schenkel, 95, who has donated $5,000 this year for two $2,500 scholarships in memory of her late husband, and wants to donate $5,000 next year for two more $2,500 scholarships.
