Dog's owner arraigned on cruelty charge

CAMPBELL -- Chris Carpenter, 33, of Devitt Avenue was arraigned Tuesday in municipal court on one count of animal cruelty and will be back in court Aug. 11 for a pretrial.
Jason Osborne, Animal Charity humane investigator, said Carpenter's female Rottweiler did not receive medical attention after being hit by a car last November and requires surgery. He said one of the dog's legs is L-shaped from the injury and tape wrapped on the leg was so tight that it imbedded in the skin. Osborne said the dog stays at Animal Charity on South Avenue during the day and he takes her home at night.
