CARDS/BINGO
XSt. James Altar and Rosary Society will hold a 50th annual card and bingo party at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the gymnasium of St. James School, 2106 Arbor St. S.E. The cost is $5 at the door and includes lunch. There will be door and table prizes.
DINNER/DANCE

FUNDRAISERS
XBig Brothers & amp; Sisters of Portage County is accepting donations of cars, trucks and vans, both running and nonrunning, as a fundraiser for the organization. Vehicles will be picked up free of charge in three days or less, and those donating need only have the keys and title. A tax deduction receipt will be given to those donating. XThe fund development committee of the Girl Scouts of Lake to River Council Board of Directors will host an evening of wine, hors d'oeuvres and desserts at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Ciminero's Banquet Centre, Main Street, Niles. XSecond Harvest Food Bank will hold a "Polka Dance Against Hunger" from 6 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday at the Gardenbrook Party Center, 4820 state Route 5, Cortland. Two orchestras will provide music, and refreshments will be available throughout the evening. Admission is free to all Polka Times subscribers who take their Polka Times mailing label. Cost to nonsubscribers is $5. Those attending are also encouraged to take a nonperishable food item to benefit Second Harvest.
GOLF OUTINGS
XYoungstown State Football Alumni Committee of the Penguin Club is taking reservations for its fourth annual golf outing to be held Friday at Oak Tree Country Club in West Middlesex, Pa. A spaghetti dinner will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Stambaugh Stadium DeBartolo Club as a kickoff to the event. Cost for the dinner is $15 for members and $20 for nonmembers. Golfing on Friday is $75, and a package that includes an Outback Stekhouse buffet dinner is available for $100. The event will begin with a shotgun start at noon, and prizes will be awarded for various contests. Tee and green signs are available for purchase for $50, and buffet dinner tickets are $60. XBrownlee Woods Presbyterian Church, 1970 Everett Ave., will hold a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 2 and 3, ending with a $1 a bag day on May 3.
XVFW Post 5532 Auxiliary, 575 S. County Line Road, Washingtonville, will hold a rummage and craft sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Donated items will be accepted. Vendors can rent tables for $15 and keep proceeds.
XWestminster Presbyterian Church, 119 Stadium Drive, Boardman, will hold its 50th annual used book sale from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday.
XZion Hill Church, 14550 New Buffalo Road, Columbiana, will hold a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Proceeds will help cover expenses of children attending camp this summer.
