Five candidates -- two Democrats and three Republicans -- are seeking their respective party nomination for an open seat on the 11th Appellate District court bench.
MARY JANE TRAPP (D)
Age: 49

Education: Graduate of Columbus School for Girls, graduated cum laude in 1978 from Mount Holyoke College and law degree in 1981 from Case Western Reserve University.
Employment: Managing partner in law firm of Apicella & amp; Trapp.
Family: Husband, F. Michael Apicella; four stepchildren and three stepgrandchildren.
Priority: Improve the administration of justice and legal reform to assure access to an independent judicial system in which the public has faith and confidence.
ALBERT L. PUROLA (D)
Age: 62
Home: 38298 Ridge Road, Willoughby.
Education: Graduate of Willoughby High School, bachelor's degree in 1965 from Bowdoin College, law degree in 1970 from Cleveland-Marshall School of Law.
Employment: Private practice.
Family: Wife, Lisa Roth, and a daughter.
Priority: To bring experience and intelligence to the job.
PAUL I. BRICKNER (R)

Education: Bachelor's degree from University of Richmond, law degree from Case Western Reserve University and graduate studies at The Ohio State University.
Employment: Senior administrative law judge, Falls Church, Va.
Family: Single.
Priority: To render fair, impartial and sound decisions.
JEFFREY H. BLACK (R)

Education: 1975 graduate of Willoughby High School, bachelor's degree in 1984 from The Ohio State University and law degree in 1992 from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law.

DOROTHY HENRY LEE (R)
