Crew 1, Galaxy 0
CARSON, Calif. -- Kyle Martino scored in second-half stoppage time to give the Columbus Crew a 1-0 victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy Saturday night.
The game was Crew coach Sigi Schmid's first against the team he guided from 1999-04 before being fired as the Galaxy occupied first place in the Western Conference.
Martino, who entered the game in the 40th minute, gave the Crew (1-2-1) its first victory of the season after Galaxy goalkeeper Kevin Hartman deflected Eddie Gaven's crossing pass from the right flank.
Martino secured the rebound, dribbled to his right and converted a 3-yard shot between the right post and Galaxy defenders Troy Roberts and Chris Albright.
