Football
YOUNGSTOWN -- A special edition of Penguin Gameday will air on WFMJ (21) and WBCB (14) Wednesday at 7 p.m.
The WFMJ sports staff will recap YSU's spring practices, preview the Red-White game and have interviews with Coach Jon Heacock, assistant coaches and players.
Men's golf
DAYTON -- Youngstown State placed two individuals in the top 10 at the Dayton Spring Invitational at Shaker Run Golf Course.
Senior Nate Komsa finished sixth and freshman Ryan Stocke placed 10th, while in the team race, YSU was sixth with a three-round score of 938 (308-310-320).
Cleveland State (905) won the team title by eight strokes over St. Bonaventure while Longwood placed third. UW-Green Bay and Siena tied for fourth.
Komsa shot 80-72-76--228. St. Bonaventure's Josh Anderson took medalist honors with 222. Stocke carded a 233 (78-76-79).
Also for YSU, junior Jim Powers finished 23rd with a 237 (76-81-80), senior Josh Zarlenga was 36th with a 242 (75-82-85) and junior Kyle Romig was 46th with a 245 (79-81-85).

KO Drugs boxingfinal registration
STRUTHERS -- Late registration for the KO Drugs Boxing Tournament will be held Wednesday at Dick's Sporting Goods in Niles and Thursday at Dick's Sporting Goods in Boardman from 4-6 p.m. both days.
The tournament will he held six nights -- May 4, 11, 18 and 25 and June 1 and 2 at Struthers Fieldhouse starting at 7 p.m. Championship bouts are set the last two nights.
Tickets are priced at $10 for adults and $6 for students.

Sandlot baseball
STRUTHERS -- The Youngstown Senior Astro Falcons won their first game of the season in the Northeast Ohio 48 and over Roy Hobbs Baseball League, beating the Cleveland Grays 15-3 Sunday at Cene Park.
Youngstown was led by Terry Hogan who was 3-for-4 with five RBIs, including a bases-loaded double.
Larry Allen had three hits with two RBIs and Don Christian registered the win while Ron Testa pitched two innings of scoreless relief.
Youngstown plays host to the Akron Blues Sunday at noon at Cene Park.
Racing at BeaveRun
WAMPUM, Pa. -- WERA Motorcycle Roadracing's Sportsman/Vintage Series will be contested at BeaveRun Motorsports Complex, 201 Penndale Road.
The Sportsman Series weekends have Solo 20 racing on Saturdays, which have a 50 percent payback purse for each of the classes offered: heavyweight, mediumweight and lightweight.
The Sportsman races are on Sundays, where riders accumulates points that could enable them to qualify for the WERA Grand National Final (GNF), held at the end of each season to determine the national championships.
Practice begins at 9 a.m. each day with races to begin at noon.
Admission is $10 per day and kids under 12 are free.

OAC award
ALLIANCE -- Mount Union sophomore Lindsey Royer was named Ohio Athletic Conference pitcher of the week for softball.
Royer went 2-0 with a save in 18 innings. She had 28 strikeouts, gave up 11 hits, three earned runs and four walks.
Royer leads the Purple Raiders (26-8, 12-6 OAC) with a 13-4 record and 1.03 ERA.
Correction
Struthers placed first in the girls 4x400-meter relay at Saturday's Mahoning County championship.
The team of Amanda Clawson, Terri George, Brianne Ciccone and Ashley Galbraith ran a time of 4 minutes, 14.8 seconds.

CLEVELAND -- The Professional Bull Riders make their first Northeast Ohio appearance since 2001 July 14-15 at the Wolstein Center.
