Board of education
On Monday, the board:
Accepted the resignation of bus driver Patricia Greer, effective July 1. Superintendent Richard Buchenic said Greer has worked for the district about 40 years.
Approved a resolution to grant high school diplomas to Vietnam War veterans honorably discharged who did not complete the requirements for high school graduation due to their military service. Veterans are eligible if they are residents of Ohio and were previously enrolled in any high school in the state, and left any public or nonpublic high school before graduation to serve in the armed forces. Any eligible veterans or relatives of deceased veterans may apply for a diploma at the board office, Buchenic said.
Accepted a $1,000 check from the district's Ohio Association of Public School Employees members for the renewal-levy campaign.
Accepted donations to the athletic facilities fund from Charles H. Sung, DVM Inc., $100; Jugenheimer Industrial Supplies Inc., $1,000; John F. Karlovic, $50.
Roosevelt Elementary playground will be open through the summer until 9 p.m. Buchenic said school staff have been locking the playground after school, but now there are several hours of daylight after school, and neighborhood children want to use the playground. He said he will discuss possible police patrols of the area after school is dismissed for the summer.
