SUNNEGARDH TO MAKE CARNEGIE HALL DEBUT

Sunnegardh to makeCarnegie Hall debut
NEW YORK -- Soprano Erika Sunnegardh will make her Carnegie Hall main stage debut May 14 with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra as part of a concert program revised because of conductor James Levine's shoulder surgery.
Sunnegardh was a relatively unknown singer before April 1, when the 40-year-old Swedish-American made her Met debut as the replacement for an ill Karita Mattila as Leonore in Beethoven's "Fidelio." The Saturday afternoon performance was broadcast internationally to about 11 million listeners in 40 countries.
Sunnegardh's only previous Carnegie appearance was at the small Weill Recital Hall on May 2, 1988, as part of a chamber ensemble.
The concert also will feature tenor Ben Heppner, bass Rene Pape and conductor James Conlon. Sunnegardh is to sing "D'Oreste, d'Ajace" from Mozart's "Idomeneo," "Siegmund heiss' ich" with Heppner from Wagner's "Die Walkuere' and "In questa reggia" from Puccini's "Turandot."
The world premiere of Charles Wuorinen's "Theologoumenon," which was on the original program, has been postponed.
Levine is recovering from March 27 surgery to repair a torn right rotator cuff, an injury sustained when he fell on the stage of Symphony Hall in Boston following a March 1 performance.
Rapper Swift jailed aftermissing court appearance
NOVI, Mich. -- Rap musician Swift was jailed on a probation violation after missing a court hearing while he attended the funeral of his friend Proof, a fellow member of the Eminem-led hip-hop group D12.
Police found Swift, whose real name is Ondre Moore, on Thursday afternoon in the Detroit suburb of Novi. District Court Judge Brian MacKenzie sentenced him to 93 days in jail for violating terms of his probation in a drunken-driving case.
Moore, 31, had tested positive for alcohol despite a condition of his probation that he remain free of alcohol or drugs, the judge said.
The judge issued a bench warrant for Moore's arrest after he failed to appear in court Wednesday. Moore served that day as an honorary pallbearer at the funeral of Proof, who was shot to death April 11 in Detroit.
Messages seeking comment were left Friday with a lawyer for Moore.
Besides Swift, D12 is composed of rap superstar Eminem, Kon Artis, Bizarre and Kuniva. Proof, whose real name was Deshaun Holton, was an original member of the group that formed in the mid-1990s.
