SCHOLARSHIPS For college students



Some special-interest and academic-honors scholarships for college students to consider:
Lowellville Rod and Gun Club: The club is launching a conservation scholarship program this year, offering financial aid to high school students who enroll in an accredited college program in a conservation-related field of study. The club will offer two $500 scholarships, one to a man and one to a woman. Applications are available through June 2 and can be picked up between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at Bolt Construction, 10422 South Ave., Poland, or by e-mailing digitalgraphics@zoominternet.net. Put "Scholarship Application" in the subject line. Applications must be returned no later than June. 5. Applicants must provide academic and personal information and submit an original essay on why they have chosen their particular field of study.
UnitedHealthcare Latino Health Scholars program: The program is offering 75 scholarships of $2,000 each to Spanish-speaking, bicultural, high school students who want to pursue careers in the health-care industry. There also will be two $25,000 Freedom Awards for the two most-qualified applicants. The scholarships are funded by the PacifiCare Foundation. High school seniors with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 and who are fluent in Spanish and English are eligible. Applicants must show proof of acceptance into a university, community college or accredited technical college and must be enrolled in an approved health-care program at the time they receive the scholarship.
