Museum plans its Spring Fling

YOUNGSTOWN -- The Children's Museum of the Valley will host its second annual Spring Fling event from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday. The museum is at 139 E. Boardman St. across from the main post office. The Ruth H. Beecher Charitable Trust is sponsoring the event.
The museum will offer Madagascar Hissing Cockroach races; chromatography experiments; making windsocks and pinwheels and other spring arts and crafts; and edible "bird poop" (made from breakfast cereal).
Three contests will highlight the event. First, families who bring nonperishable food or canned items to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley will register to win a free birthday party. Secondly, children who wear their most colorful Hawaiian or tropical-inspired shirts will be entered into a drawing for an individual membership to the museum.
Finally, the winner of the CMV Limbo Contest will win a prize basket filled with arts and crafts supplies.
Admission to the museum is $5 for adults, $4 for those over age 55, and $3 for children. Museum members, and children under age 3, are free.
