Hearing on Felasco's fate is postponed

NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- A hearing to determine whether Gary Felasco can keep his seat on the Lawrence County Housing Authority board of directors was postponed because of a death in the family of one of the attorneys involved.
Felasco was to appear Friday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court to fight county commissioners who have requested his removal. Commissioners contend that Felasco cannot fulfill his duties on the board because he has been suspended from participating in board activity by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
HUD suspended Felasco, who is the county's elected treasurer, pending the outcome of criminal charges accusing him of stealing more than $40,000 from his office.
Felasco is expected to go to trial May 8 on those charges. A new date for the hearing had not been set as of Friday afternoon.
