Baseball
Mother Nature flexed her muscles again and forced the Wright State baseball team to flip-flop its schedule for this weekend's series with Youngstown State. The Raiders and Penguins have moved tonight's contest to Sunday at 1 p.m. at Nischwitz Stadium in Fairborn due to inclement weather in the forecast. The two teams played two weeks ago in Youngstown, with YSU taking two of three games in the series. The new schedule for the weekend series begins Saturday with a doubleheader at 1 p.m.
Academics
Headlined by seven indoor track and field selections, the Youngstown State winter sports squads -- indoor track and field, men's and women's basketball and women's swimming and diving -- had nine Academic All-Horizon League selections. The seven indoor track and field athletes who were named academic all-conference are Bethany Anderson, Lindsay Cobey, Jarrod Davis, Dave Mealy, Nick Smith, Drew Weizer and Katy Williams. Joining those individuals were senior Ashlee Russo who was one of five student-athletes selected to the women's basketball squad and junior Becky Bertuzzi who was named the to the swimming and diving academic all-league team. YSU's total of nine student-athletes named to a total of six teams ranked fifth overall in the conference. Excluding the men's swimming and diving category, which Youngstown State does not sponsor, the Penguins had the third-highest total in the five other sports. For the year, YSU has 11 All-Horizon League academic selections, including volleyball student-athlete Abby Ettenhofer and cross country standout Emily Cicero in the fall.
