Youngs fires a one-hitter, strikes out 11 for Mathews
Mooney and Fitch defeated teams from outside the Mahoning Valley.
BRISTOLVILLE -- Caitlin Youngs tossed a one-hitter, striking out 11 and walking one, to lead the Mathews High softball team past Bristol, 5-0, on Thursday. She also had three hits.
Rachel Woolf had two hits and two RBIs for the Mustangs (11-3-1), while Laura Wise added two hits.
Heather Lodwick had seven strikeouts and did not walk a batter for Bristol (1-6).
Mooney 4, Steubenville Central Catholic 2
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Cardinals (12-3) scored four runs in the first inning at Volney Rogers Field.
The Cardinals' Katie Hughes hit an RBI single. Ami Vitello's bunt single drove in a run, while Monique Irwin's sacrifice groundout drove in a run. The fourth run scored on a passed ball.
Hughes, a freshman, added another single and scored once.
The Crusaders (11-4) were led by Kelly Constantini, who hit two doubles, driving in a run in the second inning and a run in the fourth.
Fitch 10, Immaculate Heart (N.Y. 0
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Kara Warren tossed a one-hitter and hit a two-run double. Sam Kozbial and Kate Ferree also hit two-run doubles. Nicole Smaldino tripled while Danielle Crum's two hits included a double and drove in two runs.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Warren pitched a no-hitter and hit two doubles to drive in two runs for the Falcons (6-8).
Kozbial's three hits included a triple and drove in two runs. Ferree hit a three-run double. Crum doubled and Staci Balkan had two hits.
Springfield 13, Western Reserve 1
NEW MIDDLETOWN -- Krista Snyder pitched a four-hitter and stayed unbeaten while Christy Warren had a triple, a double and drove in three runs.
Ashley Fagnano had two single and one RBI while Samantha Cavalier added two singles to bolster the Tigers (7-4, 7-0 ICL), who had 12 hits.
Stevie Banks went the distance for Western Reserve (6-2 ICL).
Jackson-Milton 4, Sebring 1
NORTH JACKSON -- Krista Kiraly scattered four hits with seven strikeouts to pick up the win for the Bluejays (10-8, 4-4 ICL).
Kara Conrad hit a triple and a single to pace the Bluejays. Kiraly hit a pair of singles.
Megan Allcorn led the Trojans (6-6, 2-5) with a triple.
Bloomfield 19, Andrews 1
MENTOR -- Senior Angela Hennessey had three hits including a double and Michelle Skeels, a junior, also had three hits for Bloomfield (1-6) in a five-inning game against the all-girls school.
Junior Nicole Kovalak had three RBIs and Skeels a pair, while freshman Cassandra Holmes tripled for the winners.
Hennessey and Jessica Lewis combined to hold Andrews hitless.
Brittany Lowe scored Andrews' lone run in the third inning on an errant throw to first base following a dropped third strike.
Northwest 4, West Branch 0
CANAL FOLTON -- Northwest (12-3, 4-3) scored three run in the bottom of the fourth inning and went on to shutout the Warriors (3-11, 0-8) in the Northeaster Buckeye Conference game.
Sarah Kosmos and Jessica Fendenheim each hit two singles for the winners. Bri Benedict hit a pair of singles for the Warriors.
