Shutrump pleads guilty to growing pot

YOUNGSTOWN -- Richard J. Shutrump, 39, of Lealand Avenue, Poland, pleaded guilty Thursday to marijuana possession and marijuana cultivation before Judge Maureen A. Sweeney of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.
Forfeiture specifications were modified so that Shutrump will give up $5,000 cash instead of his home, according to court records. He will be sentenced in June.
Police said they went to Shutrump's home with a search warrant last June and found 68 marijuana plants in one room, 60 plants in another room, bags of marijuana in a freezer and various items for growing marijuana.
A case is pending against Shutrump's girlfriend and co-defendant, Kimberly L. Price, 34, also of the Lealand Avenue address.
