MINERAL RIDGE -- Weathersfield Board of Education has approved a list of $95,562 worth of building and ground projects to be completed this spring and summer.
Superintendent Michael Hanshaw said most of the work will be done this spring and after July 1. He noted that because the district was frugal this school year, there was money left over to do the projects from the fiscal year 2006 budget, and other funds will be drawn from repairs and projects for fiscal year 2007 budget, which begins July 1.
The breakdown
Planned projects and their estimated costs are:
Seaborn Elementary School, total $19,276: replace leaking sky light, $1,000; replace front doors and entranceway by the main office, $5,503; replace side entrance doors and entranceway by the cafeteria, $5,503; buy five cafeteria tables, $4,270; key classroom doors and the cost of keys, $1,000; remodel main office complex, paint and tile, $2,000.

Paving road
Districtwide projects also include paving Joe Lane Drive, which is not a dedicated township street, but is used daily by school buses and parents to pick up students.
The road runs from the right of the Middle School on state Route 46 back to the high school to the bus garage and alongside Joe Lane stadium. The estimated paving price is $14,000.
Other projects call for spending $200 for a water hookup for two bays at the bus garage and $4,000 for weed control around district buildings.
