Girard's Dutton in 1-hit, 10-0 win; Heath is perfect



Dave DeJacimo hit often and got the mound win as Lakeview beat Champion.
LEAVITTSBURG -- Brett Dutton pitched a one-hitter with six strikeouts Thursday to lead the Girard High baseball team to a 10-0 Trumbull Athletic Conference victory over LaBrae.
Josh White of the Vikings hit a single with one out in the fifth inning to spoil Dutton's bid for a no-hitter.
Nick DeVore of Girard (9-6) hit two singles, scored three times, stole a base and drove in a run for the Vikings. Eric Stevens hit a pair of singles, drove in a run and scored once.
Lakeview 10, Champion 6
CORTLAND -- Dave DeJacimo homered, doubled, singled, drove in three runs, scored three times and picked up the win in relief for Lakeview.
Mark Novotny had two hits and three RBIs for the Bulldogs (6-6, 4-1 TAC) while Jeff Musick also had two hits and Jon Norton had two RBIs.
Chris Sumner had two hits and two RBIs for Champion (7-3-1, 6-2).
Newton Falls 8, Brookfield 6
BROOKFIELD -- Jae Leeworthy pitched three shutout innings of relief, striking out six while allowing just one baserunner, to lead Newton Falls.
Leeworthy and Travis McCartney each added two hits and two RBIs for the Tigers (3-6, 2-5 TAC) while Brad Blevins had two hits and Mike Pelyak had two RBIs.
Joe Murphy scored from second base on an error by the first baseman for the game-winner in the top of the eighth.
Corey Hartman and Garrett McMullin each had two hits for Brookfield.
Salem 21, East Liverpool 0
EAST LIVERPOOL -- Jarin Heath pitched a perfect game with 12 strikeouts over five innings of a Metro Athletic Conference game. Heath has a 0.98 ERA in 14 1/3 innings this season. He hit three doubles and two singles against the Potters (4-10).
Ben Miller hit two home runs and three singles for the Quakers (6-8). Miller is batting .542 and has 10 hits in his last 11 trips to the plate. Bryan Wright hit three singles.
Fairport (N.Y.) 6, Canfield 4
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Drew Turocy's two hits included a triple while Kyle Banna had three hits and Dan Moran two for the Cardinals in the Myrtle Beach Hawaiian Tropic Tournament.
Canfield 11, Van (W. Va.) 0
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Joe Fox improved to 4-0 by striking out 10 batters.
Also for the Cardinals (11-2), Moran had two doubles. Turocy's three hits included a double and Rosko homered.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- The Falcons are scheduled to play Canfield today at 7 p.m. in the Hawaiian Tropic Classic after winning a five-inning game via the 10-run mercy rule.
Freshman Jason Bagoly had three hits, three RBIs and scored four runs for Fitch (10-3). Joe Burnich, Josh Folkwein and Joe Koch added two hits apiece for the Falcons.
Burnich, a senior, went 3-for-4, scored twice and had one RBI while Folkwein went 2-for-2, scored twice and knocked in two runs.
Senior Dave Diyorio (2-0) struck out eight, allowed seven hits and did not walk a batter.
Bo Darby had a home run and double for Logan (12-4).
Campbell 14, Warren JFK 10
WARREN -- Senior Lonnie McQueen had three hits including a home run and finished with two RBIs while sophomore Eligio Bonilla and junior Rich Tisone both had three hits and two RBIs for Campbell (3-9).
Junior Josh Swipas had a home run while Marc Rossi, John Baker, Brian Guarnieri and Tim Bride all had two hits for JFK (8-5).

NORTH JACKSON -- Matt Pirko tossed a three-hitter for the Bluejays (4-7, 3-6 Inter-County League). Pirko's two hits included a double.
Also with two hits were Gary Pittman, Nick Serb, Bart McGee and Ryan Clawson.
Mathews 3, Bristol 1
BRISTOLVILLE -- Adam Collier pitched a two-hitter with 13 strikeouts to pick up the win for the Braves (5-8, 5-2 Northeastern Athletic Conference).
The Braves scored on their runs in the top of the sixth inning on doubles by Aaron Cypert and Phil Ciprian and a pair of Bristol (4-5, 3-2) errors.

YOUNGSTOWN -- The Raiders (11-3, 3-0 Steel Valley Conference) scored all their runs in the first three innings.
Brennen Dolan hit a double and Caullen Owens a triple for the Raiders.
Lowellville 8, Sebring 7
LOWELLVILLE -- The Rockets, trailing 7-5, scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to prevail.
Jon Wilaj hit a double and a single and Vince Travaline had two singles to pace the Rockets (8-5, 4-3 ICL).
Sebring slipped to 4-8, 3-4.
East Palestine 4, Warren JFK 3
NILES -- Trailing 3-0, the Bulldogs (12-6) scored two runs in the fifth inning and two more in the seventh at Eastwood Field. Zac Dunn and Nick Baiamonte each hit two singles.
Josh Cooper tied his career-high with 14 strikeouts for Warren JFK (7-4).
