Woman, man face drug charges

Felony drug charges will be filed if the liquid tests positive for heroin.
YOUNGSTOWN -- A Columbiana County man and woman were arraigned on drug-related charges after their arrests on the East Side.
Lisa A. Clark, 46, and her passenger, Rusty Altman, 33, both of Creamridge Road, Lisbon, were arrested Tuesday on Byron Street on charges of possession of heroin and possession of drug abuse instruments (syringes). They spent the night in the Mahoning County jail and were video-arraigned Wednesday in municipal court on the instruments charges.
The felony drug charges will be filed if liquid found in the syringes tests positive for heroin, said Dana C. Guarnieri, an assistant city prosecutor.
Judge Robert P. Milich set Clark's bond at $1,000 and Altman's at $5,000. They are due back in court next month for pretrials.
Guarnieri told the judge that Altman has an extensive criminal history that includes drug trafficking, resisting arrest, aggravated menacing and criminal damaging. "It goes on and on," she said of the record.
What was found
When Patrolmen Malik Mostella and Patrick Mulligan searched the driver's side of the couple's car, they found a syringe with 20cc (a little more than a cubic inch) of suspected heroin, reports show. A spoon with suspected drug residue was found in Clark's purse, police said.
On the passenger side, police said they found a small bag on the dashboard with suspected heroin residue in it and a syringe with blood and 20cc of suspected heroin in it inside the glove compartment. A syringe cap was found near the console.
Also inside the glove compartment was a silver spoon still wet from heating the suspected heroin, police said.
The officers said Altman and Clark admitted buying the drugs in the area of Shehy Street and Truesdale Avenue but didn't know the seller.
