Police arrest 2 on drug charges after East Side standoff



YOUNGSTOWN -- Acting on a tip, police and ATF agents arrested two men on drug charges and outstanding warrants after a 45-minute standoff on the city's East Side.
Police arrested Justyn R. Glover, 23, of Hubbard Road, and Richardo Mendez Jr., 25, of Belleview, at Glover's residence around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Glover was wanted by on a federal warrant charging possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine. He was featured in The Vindicator as a Marshals Most Wanted Fugitive on April 10.
Police charged both with possession of drugs. Mendez had an outstanding warrant for a probation violation.
Police said they surrounded the residence and saw a man matching Glover's description try to go out a second-story window. He went back inside, and police announced themselves and told him to surrender.
Police said Glover and Mendez came out the front door about 45 minutes later.
During a search of the house, authorities found a beaker with suspected crack. They also seized a loaded 9 mm handgun, suspected marijuana, a police scanner, a scale with suspected crack cocaine residue on it, a .22-cal. rifle and scope and .22-cal. ammunition.
Mendez had $2,730 on him when arrested, police said.
