MRDD board names Devon superintendent

LISBON -- William A. Devon II has been named the new superintendent of the Columbiana County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities.
Devon, 51, of Calcutta, will take the position May 20. Retiring longtime Superintendent Gerald Baker will end his tenure May 19.
Devon has been the board's business manager since 1995. He has also been the Medicaid manager for the board's 500 clients.
He previously taught at Ohio Valley Business College and was involved in several businesses. He's a 1973 graduate of Wellsville High School.
"I'm really excited about it," Devon said Wednesday. He joked, "I get all the headaches now."
Devon was given a two-year contract starting at $81,492 a year.
